Word-for-word scripts for each module. Read aloud or adapt to your voice.
Module 1 โ Meet Bolt & Nova (15โ20 min)
OPEN (2 min): "Good morning, Forest Explorers. Close your eyes for just one breath. Breathe in through your noseโฆ holdโฆ and out through your mouth. Welcome to the Brain Forest."
INTRODUCE (5 min): "Today we're meeting two very important characters who live inside ALL of our brains. The first is Bolt the Alert Dog. Bolt is your amygdala โ a tiny part of your brain the size of an almond. His job is to keep you safe. When something feels scary, surprising, or unfair โ Bolt BARKS. Can you make a barking sound? [Let students bark.] That's Bolt! He's brave, he's fast, and he loves you."
"Now meet Nova the Wise Owl. Nova lives in your Prefrontal Cortex โ the thinking brain. He wears golden Thinking Goggles and loves to solve problems. But here's the thing โ when Bolt barks too loud, Nova can't hear himself think. Our whole job this year is to help Nova hear."
ACTIVITY (8 min): "Draw Bolt or Nova in your Field Guide. What does Bolt look like when he's calm? What does he look like when he's barking? What is Nova wearing?"
CLOSE (2 min): "Let's find our Golden Hum. Put one hand on your heart. Take one slow breath. Notice if Bolt is calm or barking right now. No judgment โ just notice. See you next time in the forest."
MODULE 2 โ Zones of the Forest (15โ20 min): Introduce the 5 zones. Have students identify body clues for each. Use the Zone Check-In in their portal. Debrief: "Which zone do you visit most often? There's no wrong answer โ Bolt is just doing his job."
MODULE 3 โ The Golden Hum (20 min): Teach Balloon Breathing (4-4-4), Still Water visualization, and 528Hz humming. Have students practice all three, then vote on their favorite. "Your regulation toolkit is yours forever โ no one can take it."
MODULE 4 โ Anchor People (20 min): Build the Lifeline map. Students name 3+ Anchor People across school, home, and community. Discussion: "What makes someone a good Anchor Person? It's not about fixing โ it's about staying."
MODULE 5 โ Nova's Choice (20 min): Run the adventure scenarios from the student portals aloud as a class. Debrief each scenario: "What was Bolt feeling? What did Nova decide? Was there another option?"
MODULE 6 โ Certification (30 min): Students complete their survey, sign the pledge (gr. 4โ5), and collect their certificates. Play 528Hz softly in the background. Read the certificate language aloud together.

๐ Morning Sanctuary Script (5 min)
"Good morning. Before we begin, let's arrive together. Close your eyes or soften your gaze. Take one breath in through your nose โ slowly โ and out through your mouth. Notice what zone your body is in right now. No fixing. Just noticing. Now hum quietly with me โ [hum 528Hz for 10 seconds]. Open your eyes. You are here. That's enough. Let's begin."
๐ Transition Sanctuary Script (2 min)
"Before we shift โ let's reset. Feet flat on the floor. Press down. Feel the ground. Take three counts inโฆ holdโฆ three counts out. If Bolt is barking, just notice. We don't need Bolt to stop โ we just need Nova to get louder. Ready? Let's go."
๐ End-of-Day Sanctuary Script (5 min)
"We made it through today. Before you go โ I want you to notice one thing that went well. Just one. It can be tiny. [Pause 10 seconds.] Now take one big breath and let out a big sigh. [Do it together.] Your Golden Hum traveled with you today. Carry it home."
๐ Educator Zone Guide
How to recognize and respond to each zone in your students.
๐ด Red Zone โ Sympathetic Activation
What you see: yelling, crying, running, hitting, frozen, completely shut down. What NOT to do: lecture, punish in the moment, ask "why did you do that?" What TO do: get low, get quiet, breathe visibly yourself. "I see Bolt is really loud right now. I'm staying right here." Remove from stimulation if possible. Wait before processing.
๐ต Blue Zone โ Dorsal Vagal / Shutdown
What you see: withdrawn, silent, head down, unresponsive, dissociated. What NOT to do: ignore, call out publicly, push for participation. What TO do: gentle physical proximity, low tone: "I notice you're in Blue Zone. You don't have to talk. I'm here." Consider a quiet check-in card or fidget tool.
๐ก Yellow Zone โ Elevated/Dysregulated
What you see: off-task, giggly, distracted, talking, fidgety. What NOT to do: escalate with frustration or sarcasm. What TO do: movement break, grounding activity, quiet redirection. "Yellow Zone โ let's do 3 stretches together before we continue."
๐ข Green Zone โ Window of Tolerance
What you see: focused, engaged, responsive, calm, curious. What TO do: teach here. Reinforce: "I notice our class is in Green Zone right now โ this is great learning time."
โจ Gold Zone โ Optimal Regulation
What you see: joyful engagement, deep focus, collaborative energy, creative flow. What TO do: name it and protect it. "This is our Golden Hum as a class. Let's stay here." These are the moments that build lifelong regulation capacity.
๐ง Your Nervous System Is the Thermostat
Research by Dr. Bruce Perry and Dr. Dan Siegel confirms: the most powerful co-regulation tool in any classroom is the educator's own nervous system. When you regulate, students' brains literally synchronize. Your peace is the curriculum.

๐ Crisis Protocol
For students in acute distress. Always follow your school's crisis response plan first.
๐ด Immediate Safety Threat
Call 911. Follow school emergency protocol. Do not use Brain Forest tools in place of emergency response.
๐ Acute Dysregulation (Red/Blue Zone โ Not a Safety Emergency)
Regulate yourself first. Take one visible breath. Lower your voice 20%.
Get to their level. Sit or crouch. Make yourself smaller and slower.
Name what you see, not what you feel. "I see your fists are tight. I see Bolt is very loud right now."
Offer choice, not command. "Do you want to sit here or go to the calm corner?"
Wait. Don't lecture, don't ask "why," don't problem-solve until they are in Green Zone.
Process after. "Can you tell me what happened now that Bolt is a little quieter?"
๐ Trauma Disclosure
If a student discloses abuse or trauma: Listen without reacting. Say: "Thank you for trusting me. You are safe. I'm going to help you." Then follow mandatory reporter protocol immediately. Do not promise confidentiality.

Your regulation matters. You cannot pour from an empty vessel.
โก 30-Second Reset
1. Press your feet into the floor. Feel the ground under you. You are here. 2. Take one long breath in (4 counts) โ hold (4) โ out (6). Repeat twice. 3. Place one hand on your chest. Feel your heartbeat. It's steady. You are safe. 4. Say (silently or aloud): "I regulate. My students co-regulate with me." 5. Back to the forest. ๐ฟ
๐ Still Water โ Your Version
You are the lake. Your students are the storms, the ripples, the splashing. The surface of the lake can be chaotic โ and the depth is always, always still. You are the depth. Go there when Bolt gets loud in your own chest.
